Cupid has spent eternity wounding others. Here, he has turned the arrow on himself. In this intimate painting, the god of love sits alone, pierced by his own golden arrows. The gesture is left open. Perhaps he wanted, just once, to feel what he gives to everyone else. Perhaps he meant to hurt himself. Either way, he cannot die. His immortality turns the wound into a permanent condition rather than an ending. His wings are broken, shedding feathers onto the floor: freedom, intimacy, and the ability to love, coming loose one piece at a time. Cupid becomes a figure for something deeply human, the way we turn pain inward and slowly wear away our own capacity for connection and trust. The palette is muted, almost gray. Life is still present, but warmth has drained out of the room, leaving a quiet, suspended stillness. Only the gold of the arrows still catches the light. Self Harm is a meditation on love, loneliness, and self-destruction: the moment when the force meant to give life becomes the source of the wound.
